Air Fryer Chicken Shawarma
Traditional shawarma is made by stacking marinated meat on a vertical spit and slow-roasting it for many hours. In Greece, meat cooked in this style is called gyro. This quick air fryer version uses juicy boneless chicken breasts along with yogurt and a mix of spices to achieve that classic Mediterranean flavour in a fraction of the time.
Instructions
- Preheat the air fryer to 380°F.
- In a large bowl, combine all ingredients and mix together until the chicken is coated well.
- Spread the chicken mixture in an even layer in the air fryer basket, then cook for 10 minutes. Stir the chicken mixture and cook for an additional 5 minutes.
- Serve with rice, a Greek salad, and tzatziki sauce.
INGREDIENT TIP:
You can substitute chicken thighs in place of the chicken breasts if preferred for extra juiciness.
